International experts discuss higher education at Forum event
Lively discussion among participants from many federations marked the last day of the Forum's conference on post-secondary education in federal countries, held in Gatineau, Canada.
Participants shared experiences and ideas, ranging from jurisdiction over higher education to the new trend of universities establishing branches in other countries, so-called "offshore campuses." Other issues that fueled the debates were the financing of higher education and the mobility of university students.
The conference was opened with an address Jan. 15, 2007, by the Honourable Monte Solberg, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Canada.
