Mexico signs Framework Arrangement with Forum

On January 30, 2006, the Government of Mexico signed a Framework Arrangement with the Forum of Federations at the historic . Signing for Mexico was Carlos Abascal, Minister of the Interior. Signing for Canada was Arnold Koller, the Chair of the Forum.

The previous year, on June 27, 2005, Mexico signed a letter of intent to become a member of the Forum's Strategic Council. Carlos Abascal, Minister if the Interior, signed for Mexico and George Anderson, President of the Forum of Federations, signed for the Forum. The letter was signed at a special ceremony at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Also attending for Mexico were Marà­a Teresa Garcà­a de Madero, Mexican Ambassador to Canada; Gerónimo Gutiérrez, Undersecretary for North America, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Juan Bosco Marti, Director General for North America, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and José Ignacio Madrazo, Deputy Head of Mission.
