Forum, Australia secure partnership for health care conference

The Forum of Federations and the Government of South Australia have agreed to organize a national conference on Comparative Federal Healthcare Models in September 2007. On a recent mission, Rupak Chattopadhyay, the Forum's Director, Asia-Pacific Programs, met with the Government of South Australia and representatives from the Menzies Centre for Health Policy at the University of Sydney. The conference would be organized in partnership with the Menzies Centre and the Government of South Australia (who will also involve other state and commonwealth goverments).

The conference will see participation by experts from Canada, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and United States. The Forum of Federations is currently working with the Menzies Centre to produce an issues paper on health care in Australia, and a series of factsheets on select federations.

The Forum visit to Australia took place at the end of February 2007.
