Youth Summer Session on Federalism 2004The Summer Session on Federalism is a two-week study and travel program, where young professionals and scholars learn how federalism works in practice in two different federal countries. From 29 August - 12 September 2004, sixteen participants from countries around the world took part in this unique experience which explores theories, governmental structures, mechanisms and issues critical to federal systems. The third annual Summer Session was organized in partnership with the Summer University at the Institute of Federalism in Fribourg, Switzerland in 2004. The 2004 session included field trips to Switzerland and Bosnia-Herzegovina, incorporating visits to each of the federal capitals and to a canton in each federation. The program featured academic sessions, discussions with politicians and officials, an intergovernmental negotiation simulation, and tours of government institutions in both of the countries visited. |
