For example, any paper about cities and municipalities in Canada,
- select Canada from the COUNTRY field,
- select Cities and Municipalities from the TOPIC field
- press SEARCH
- an AUTHOR
For example, any paper by Prof. Ronald L. Watts,
- enter Watts in the AUTHOR’S LAST NAME field
- press SEARCH
- an AUTHOR and a TOPIC
For example, any paper by Prof. Ronald L. Watts that mentions constitutions,
- enter constitution in the WORD OR EXACT PHRASE field
- enter Watts in the AUTHOR’S LAST NAME field
- press SEARCH
- a WORD or an EXACT PHRASE
For example, any paper containing the word Länder
- enter Länder in the WORD OR EXACT PHRASE field
- press SEARCH
…or, for example, any papers containing the phrase unfunded mandate
- enter unfunded mandate in the WORD OR EXACT PHRASE field
- press SEARCH
Note: You must always enter a single word or an exact phrase in the WORD OR EXACT PHRASE field.
- an exact WORD or PHRASE and a specific COUNTRY
For example, any paper about Switzerland containing the word canton
- enter canton in the WORD OR EXACT PHRASE field
- select Switzerland from the COUNTRY field
- press SEARCH
In general:
- To start over, press CLEAR after doing a search.
- When you use the WORD OR EXACT PHRASE search, enter a single word or an exact phrase. (Entering constitution Iraq will get zero hits unless the phrase “constitution Iraq” appears in a document.)
- Use any combination of fields to narrow your search.
For example, to find Federations magazine articles
mentioning Länder in Germany,
- in the WORD OR EXACT PHRASE field, enter Länder
- from the COUNTRY list, select Germany
- from the PUBLICATION TYPE list, select Federations magazine article
