Australian Prime Minister visits CanadaHow Australian and Canadian federal systems compare
Both Australia and Canada are partners of the Forum of Federations, an international, non-governmental organization which seeks to enhance federal governance worldwide. The Forum has prepared a 36-slide presentation in English and French comparing and contrasting key points of the federal systems of Australia and Canada as background to this visit. Background: Prime Minister Howard will address Canada's Parliament on Thursday, May 18, and meet with the speakers of the Senate and of the House of Commons. Afterwards he will attend a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Harper. The two leaders will be discussing key policy issues of mutual interest, which are expected to include the fight against terrorism, international security and international trade negotiations. The next day, Prime Minister Howard will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the National War Memorial. He will also attend a business round table and luncheon sponsored by the Canadian Council of Chief Executives.
