On September 12, 2012, Australia renewed the framework agreement with the Forum of Federations for thre years 2013-2015.

Rupak Chattopadhyay, President and Roger Wilkins, Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Forum, met with Helen Silver, Cabinet Secretary of Victoria, who signed the agreement on behalf of the Australian governments to discuss the future cooperation between the Forum and Australia.

Australia is one of the most active partners and provides enhanced funding to the Forum. With this renewal the Government of Victoria becomes the Forum’s Australian liaison partner. In previous years Queensland, South Australia and New South Wales have managed this relationship. The Forum heavily draws on the Australian experience and expertise in its international programs. The Forum has also worked closely with the Australian Centre for Excellence on Local Government, the COAG Reform Council, the Productivity Commission and the Major Cities Unit of Infrastructure Australia as part of its in country programming.
