Ethiopian university students and faculty learn fiscal decentralization techniques

As part of a joint public lecture series, the Forum of Federations and the Institute of Federal Studies at Addis Ababa University held a session on fiscal federalism on March 7, 2008, at the university. The presentation was delivered by Bob Searle, formerly of Australia’s Commonwealth Grants Commission and expert on comparative fiscal decentralization. It was attended by about 40 students and faculty members and focused on the balance of central government control and sub-national government autonomy in intergovernmental fiscal relations, using the current Ethiopian model as an example.
