Forum holds workshops in three Mexican cities

In partnership with Mexico’s National Institute for Federalism and Municipal Development, an agency of Mexico’s interior ministry, the Forum organized a series of workshops on decentralization and intergovernmental institutions in federal systems. These workshops, held in March 2007, took place in Mexico City, San Nicolás (Nuevo Laredo) and Boca del Río (Veracruz), bringing Mexican officials and specialists in the field of intergovernmental relations together with their counterparts from selected federations around the world. Senator Ramon Galindo Noriega, president of the Senate Commission on Federalism and Municipal Development, participated in all three workshops, as did Beatriz Zavala Peniche, president of the National Council on Social Development. This panel of national and international experts was augmented by the participation of local mayors and senior civil servants from state governments.
