Felix Knuepling from the Forum gave a speech at the closing session of the "Winter School on Federalism and Governance” in Bolzano, Italy. The Winter School is a common project of the Institute for Studies on Federalism and Regionalism of the European Academy Bolzano/Bozen (EURAC), the Faculty of Law and the School of Political Science and Sociology of the University of Innsbruck. The Winter School analyzes the phenomena of federalism, regionalism and multi-level governance from a legal and a political science perspective. Each year it attracts between 30-40 mid-career academics, civil servants, NGO representatives and politicians from around a dozen established and emerging federations. The 2015 edition of the Winter School explored the link between federalism and democratic participation from a multidisciplinary and comparative perspective, providing in-depth analysis and practical knowledge of these phenomena. Mr Knuepling´s presentation focused on the practical work of the Forum of Federations in this area, drawing some comparative lessons.
