German diplomat Hans Gnodtke has been seconded to the Forum of Federations for one year as Senior Advisor to the Forum. From 2005 to 2007, Mr. Gnodtke was the German foreign ministrye’s commissioner for dialogue with the Islamic world.
After completing his studies in law at the University of Heidelberg, he was posted to the German embassy in Cairo from 1976 to 1979 and in London from 1979 to 1983. Mr. Gnodtke then worked for the foreign ministry in Bonn from 1987 to 1989, following which he was the German ambassador to Lesotho. After serving in other postings, he was named ambassador to Guinea from 1995 to 1996, then permanent representative in Cairo from 1999 to 2003 and ambassador to Sudan from 2003-2005.
Mr Gnodtke began his assignment at the Forum’s headquarters in Ottawa on July 24, 2007, where among other tasks, he will be working with the Middle East and African programs.
