On November 7, the German Government has renewed the framework agreement with the Forum of Federations.

Germany is one of the Forum’s strongest partners and provides enhanced funding to the Forum. The Forum primarily liaises with the Federal Ministry of the Interior. The Federal Foreign Office is funding the Forum’s projects in Ethiopia (2009-2011) and Pakistan (2009-2011) and has just extended the program in Ethiopia for another two years. The Foreign Office also provide a senior civil servant on secondment to the Forum, Dr. Christian Brecht. In addition, the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development is also committed to fund a Forum project.

The Forum heavily draws on the German experience of federalism in its international programs. It also runs projects on German federalism. In February 2012 it will co-organize an international conference on challenges of immigrant integration in Berlin.
