In partnership with the Assembly of First Nations and the National Congress of American Indians, the Forum organized a workshop on revenue-raising options for First Nations in Canada and in the US. The workshop took place in Vancouver from April 11 to 12, 2002. This session was the first one in a series of events examining the fiscal relationship between First Nations governments and the various orders of governments within Canada and the USA. Indigenous representatives from Australia, Brazil and Mexico participated in this first workshop. Although not a federation, New Zealand was also invited given its interesting approach to the issue of financial systems and aboriginal peoples.
