Dear friends and colleagues,
Greetings from Forum of Federations, Myanmar Office. I hope all of you are doing well.
As you know, the Forum of Federations Myanmar Office has launched a series of round-table discussions as we feel the need to provide a forum where leaders of civil society, political parties and intellectuals from different backgrounds can meet to deliberate on a wide range of issues regarding the country’s federal future from diverse perspectives.
The round-table discussion usually starts with a discussion led by a prominent academic or practitioner on a thematic topic and subsequently the floor is opened up for discussion on the theme and other areas of interest. We believe everybody at this round-table has something to say. This is a place to exchange views, enrich ideas, and create a common ground to move forward in a visionary and strategic way. The lead presentation will later come out as a publication in both Myanmar and English.
We feel that there is a need to bridge the gap between the political perspectives of federalism and the technical, know-how sides of policy implementation, especially in the areas of education and health care. We believe that preparing how education and health care will get translated in a future federal system in Myanmar will be of substantial value to our discussions of federalism and invariably can have impacts on social and political life of people.
It is our pleasure to invite you to the fourth round-table discussion “Heath Care and Federalism in Myanmar” led by Prof. Gregory P. Marchildon, Professor and Ontario Research Chair in Health Policy and System Design, Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto. Myanmar perspectives will also be provided by Dr. Marta, Senior Health Advisor, Karen National Union and Dr. Si Thura, Executive Director, Community Partners International. Please find attached the invitation (in Myanmar) and Prof. Marchildon’s curriculum vitae.
