Training workshop in Yangon, from Aug 15-19, 2015
From August 15-19, 2015, the Forum in cooperation with Euro Burma Office and Bayda Institute ran a 5-day intensive Training of Trainers (ToT) seminar for aspiring young leaders and trainers. The 48 participants of the training, selected by the Bayda Institute, were all members of the National League for Democracy (NLD), the party headed by Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi. The NLD is currently Myanmar’s largest opposition party.
The Forum’s ToT program in Myanmar aims at equipping young trainers in Myanmar with the capacity to deliver 2-day federalism trainings in groups themselves. The training not only focuses on contenct, such as the basic principles of federalism, functional assignments, managing diversity, fiscal federalism, the role of local government and others, but also in improving the local trainers’ facilitation skills.
Dr Sandeep Shastri, Senior Fellow of the Forum, Dr Francis KW Loh, Professor emeritus, Penang, Malaysia and Joyce Abarbanel, consultant, delivered the training.
