The project “Empowering Women in Vulnerable Communities through Climate Adaptation and Resilience in Jordan,” implemented by the Forum of Federations – Jordan Office and funded by the World Resources Institute (WRI) through Environment and Climate Change Canada in coordination with the NDC Partnership, targets the governorates of Irbid, Mafraq, and Al-Quwayrah in Aqaba from September 2025 to January 2026.

It aims to strengthen climate resilience by empowering at least 300 women—particularly smallholder farmers and informal water users—through training in climate-smart agriculture, water management, and leadership, while facilitating knowledge exchange and integrating grassroots, gender-responsive recommendations into national climate and gender policies.

By building technical knowledge and leadership skills, the project enables women, who often manage household and agricultural water use but are underrepresented in formal water governance, to actively participate in water management decisions, promote sustainable water use, integrate gender perspectives into policies, and act as agents of change linking local experiences to national strategies, thereby transforming them into active leaders in inclusive and resilient water governance.
