How can the success of the Brฤko Model in Bosnia and Herzegovina inform peacebuilding processes in Syria and other parts of the world?

In the final policy brief in our series examining the effects, legacy and lessons of the Dayton Agreement three decades on, Neophytos Loizides and Constantine Partasides KC examine how the key principles of the Brฤko Model โ€“ and arbitration mechanisms in particular โ€“ could support a settlement in Syria that provide all parties with positive outcomes.

The Inclusive Peace project is an international collaborative research initiative which investigates the adoptability and adaptability of power-sharing settlements, including what influences a citizenโ€™s decision to endorse settlements and their capacity to shape those agreements over time. The project is funded by an Open Research Area 7 grant.
